Right; today is National Giving Day, one of the best holiday season ideas to come along in quite a while. All of us here at Workprint and on the Coastal Disturbances team want to urge you to take a moment and donate to the ALS Association‘s Oregon chapter. ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease) remains a dreaded, heartbreaking affliction that affects at least 30,000 Americans of all ages and takes about 5,000 more each year. It’s a cruelly debilitating, progressive disease that usually results in death. But research is making remarkable progress, with treatment and cure now becoming a realistic goal. Your gift of any amount can help to support this valuable work as well as provide support for those currently struggling with ALS. Check with your employer, too; many will match your contribution.

One of our key goals when we first organized and began this project was to do what we could to go beyond the non-extractive nature of filmmaking and bring value to local communities. From the beginning, we committed to return a portion of whatever net revenue we acquire to those communities. This year, we unanimously decided also to designate the ALS Association as our company charity and to commit twenty percent of any net revenue to their ongoing work. Please join us in whatever way you can on this Giving Day.
